Design Curriculum Badge Icons

A series of icons representing basic skills in Adobe apps, used as a part of computer design curriculum for post-secondary students.

Measuring Achievement Beyond GPA

For many students, traditional letter grades are not effective at encouraging academic progress. The grading scale reduces achievement to a percentage, attempting to measure how much a person knows rather than what they are able to accomplish.

These students can find themselves emotionally disconnected from the pursuit. Badge progression systems refocus assessment on their accomplishments and provide a more clear picture of their real-world abilities, which can be a benefit for hand-on learners gaining practical skills.

Creative Suite Badges

These icons were developed for an entry-level computer assisted design curriculum to help students track their progress learning Adobe Creative Suite applications like Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. They maintain consistent and vibrant color distinctions based on Adobe’s own color choices to provide clarity as students gain skills in a particular app, and the badges were configured to appear automatically in the institution’s learning management software as students met the requirements.
